We’re entering a new chapter: one that reflects not just who we’ve been, but where we’re going.
The Florida State Minority Supplier Development Council (FSMSDC) is now the Florida Business Development Council (FBDC).
This evolution represents a broader, more inclusive vision for business growth, connection, and opportunity. While our mission remains firm in advancing economic equity and supporting diverse businesses, our new name reflects the full scope of who we serve today: qualified businesses, corporate and community partners working together to build stronger, more competitive ecosystems.
We are expanding access, strengthening relationships, and creating more pathways for businesses to grow and thrive.
Strengthening Corporate Collaboration: Corporate Procurement Roundtable (CPR)
Formerly known as the Supplier Diversity Roundtable (SDR), the newly renamed Corporate Procurement Roundtable (CPR) reflects a sharper focus on procurement leadership and collaboration.
This corporate member-exclusive group brings together procurement professional leaders to:
- Share best practices in procurement strategy
- Exchange insights on industry trends
- Support professional development for procurement leaders
- Build meaningful peer-to-peer relationships across organizations
The CPR creates a space where large buying organizations can learn from each other, strengthen their programs, and drive greater impact through intentional procurement.
Elevating Business Voices: Supplier Input Committee (SIC)
The Minority Business Enterprise Input Committee has evolved into the Supplier Input Committee (SIC)—a name that better reflects the inclusivity of today’s business landscape.
At its core, the SIC ensures that the voices of business owners are not just heard, but actively shape the direction of our work.
The committee is focused on four key outcomes:
- Business Growth: Increasing revenue and expanding opportunities to compete for and win contracts
- Stronger Networks: Encouraging supplier-to-supplier spending, partnerships, and subcontracting opportunities
- Deeper Engagement: Creating more spaces for connection through events, roundtables, and community-building experiences
- Procurement Readiness: Equipping businesses with the tools they need (e.g., capability statements, financial systems, insurance, and access to capital) to successfully navigate procurement
The SIC represents a commitment to listening, adapting, and building programs that reflect real business needs.
Moving Forward—Together
These changes reflect a larger shift: a more connected, inclusive, and opportunity-driven future.
The Florida Business Development Council is committed to creating an environment where businesses of all backgrounds can access resources, build relationships, and compete at higher levels.
We’re not just changing names, we’re building momentum.
